What happens when the next Battlefield game comes out with more players, a new revised class system that beats its rivals,etc.. This might not be so far away and could make PS look dated. PS 1 had the inventory system, how many shooters had that?
I think being unique is better in the long term than simply going mainstream and having a big hoorar for 2/3 years.

Gotta remember that once the game launches it will continue to be developed, Schmed has said himself that right now they are just trying to develope the core shooter part of the game, lets not forget about future content, I think thats where the uniqueness will come in.
