well, i figure they got the game ready for beta before they took the vacation, and they plan to begin beta testing when they get back after a couple days of pre-beta testing.

My guess is they took off from Christmas through New years - they were working like 7 day weeks- and wanted a break before opening the flood gates. Doesn't matter to me though, my lazy ass never signed up.
