If you were going to get an invite email wouldn't your account already be flagged ? So you should be able to check your account to see if you are flagged even though you haven't received an email yet ?

Just an assumption.

I currently have a beta key used, how I know I can download the client and play?

I say that because my Planetside 2 account status says "ACTIVE".

It's not for immediate beta access, it's more of a guarantee you'll be getting into beta soon after it starts.
