Is it a bad thing that I am such I nerd I understand what you mean exactly. Here is a question on the flip side. What do we give the other empires so they will stop complaining. Any TR or NC care to complain about this design?

TR - More Dakka (sounds like the short end of the stick but search GAU-8 Avenger on Youtube)
NC - Roboteching Missiles Swarms!

I wouldn't complain if I found myself on either point of the triangle.

Ok I think this is a good triangle as long as, 1 I can shoot NC missiles with my gun if I am quick enough and 2 if the TR gets something less frightening than a GAU-8, seriously those guns are scary.

Agreed. We have Galaxies for that sort of stuff and an additional playstyle jetpack assault players.

MAXs and Jetpacksies = assault. Simplez.

As an enemy TR I would enjoy seeing and hearing that in action but then I'd know what is coming. So by the law of game balance all MAXs ought to have distinctive gun sounds.

I want jumpjets on my Vanu max. In fact, the first iteration of the Vanu AAmax, without the too-long reload delay is just about ideal. Add new-generation armor graphics, and... we're done.

I also like the Burster.

The Sparrow, however, just seemed like it never was much of a threat. No lockdown, no jump up, and the shields were kind of underkill when facing planes.

Perhaps a dual-mode cluster frag thing for close-in planes and self-locking missiles for more distant targets for the NC?

I would like to see a radar-enhanced HUD that was better at detecting and displaying enemy planes for the AAmaxes. It would justify the strange noise you hear inside the MAX suit when you don it.

Hm. Maxes are supposed to have two gun arms now. Do you think it will be a replacement or built in? Like a backhand slap or something.

The Vanu max will have AG weapons, too, I am wondering? A Vanu max that can't specialize in generator blowing could be the cause of someone crying about lack of balance or something.

BUMPING this thread...

Higby couldn't give us a clear answer during the last AGN what they're planning with the Vanu max abilities.

What we know so far: Each empire has a 'common pool' max special ability and that is the CHARGE.

NC maxes will have shield.
TR maxes will enjoy the anchor again.
VS ? Undecided, but they won't have vertical jumpjets, probably for balancing issues.

There was meelee mentioned in this thread but personally I haven't heard of it since that time, not on the forums, or in dev posts or fb or twitter or anywhere. They may have dropped the idea.

Now let's help them creating Vanu max special abilites. This thread started with the "BLINK" ability, where the VS max could use the thrusters for a fast horizontal relocation. See the details, pros and cons in older posts!

My idea is similar to the PS1 VS general ablity to change ammo type with a single click. This could be implemented for maxes. There would be the 3 variants, but they could easily transform to another type and they could return to their primary form at will, in a quite short time. Maybe the transformed state would not be permament or it may be weaker than the original variant . (like a max spawned as AI may turn into AV, but it's damage or ROF or whatever would be - say - 80% of an original AV max)

Opinions? Ideas?
