I keep having problems with loading PS1

Everytime i go to start PS1 it says "Runtime Error program requests to terminate in an unusual way" Then i press enter and it shuts off.... I already re-installed it so what do i do?

Esc > V > Advanced > Preloading Textures to 'None'.

This worked, now I am hitting black screen. I can only force-close the program, even alt+tab doesn't work...?

I thought so too; updated drivers and no change. Is there an alternate DL site? I saw that some had success with that on the PS forums... but, that was three to five years ago...

might want to make a thread about it in the tech help forum, im not sure what to tell you. it could be an os-level problem, but thats what compatibility is supposed to take care of. depending on what resolution you normally run at, you could also try fiddling with that, because PS1 converts it to another reso when it starts up. Besides that, because I don't have the knowledge of your system that you do, there isn't much more I feel I can say or suggest.

Strange issue myself: the launcher takes AGES.
The connexion part is 15+ minutes long (yes, you read it), and I've still not gone past the "Initializing" phase on the launcher.
It's launched as administrator and win xp sp3 compatilibity

EDIT : full reinstall corrected the issue
