Unhappy Planetary rotation/Sun/moon effects

On the live stream yesterday a question was asked about the sky, and the question asked. "Will there be planetry rotation in the game? an example of it would be like the moon, it might be in a different place once in awhile like every other day-night cycle. I know there will be for the sun for the different lighting affects and stuff." Matt replied it would be the same as PS1 and I asked myself, is that fair? If your are already putting in so much effort for the Sun and lighting affect why not do it at same time.

Probably budget and work-time, to be honest. Only real reason I can think of.

Its something that is not as often noticed. Also, the moon is basically a piece of wallpaper. Its likely very easy to make it change. Basically focus on the big stuff right now, and the moon will start moving later without any of us really noticing.

Not saying I wouldn't like that, I would! Another nice immersion effect. I want E/E vehicle animations before this though.

Nice sig pic SatansReject!

What Cordless said below too...

I would prefer they put all the effort they save from not simulating the full orbits and rotation of the planetary system into anti-cheat and making sure it doesn't lag to heck and back.

Maybe they will add it in as a bonus once they figure out a low end system friendly dynamic weather system.

I totally agree, although I think a dynamic moon phase system would probably be easier to add, so it's probably apples and oranges.

See, this is something that can be on hold now. After the post launch kinks, sure. Why the hell not.

I don't think the guys working on anti-cheat or networking would be pulled from that try and figure out how to make the planets move.

As soon as I started reading your 1st sentence I knew what was to be said next. And yes, you're probably right, it might be easier.

I totally agree with you, but when he said it would be the same as PS1 I was kinda bummed, but I see the effort they are putting in and I am very happy but they shouldn't say there is something going to be the same as PS1 though even if it is something really small like that. They could all so add like really cool scenery like maybe seeing a spiral arm of the galaxy they are on or maybe a aurora borealis or something when they do add weather.

I have a feeling that when we see the weather affect in PS2 we are all gonna need pampers. That being said I wouldn't rule that out. Devs are very proud of this game and like Higby says, "I have enough ideas to keep this game going for the next 10 years"

I believe Higby has commented in the past that phases of the moon and such were going to be part of whenever they added in the weather system.

Well i'm not talking about phases per say, i'm talking about if they will maybe actually do a functional Moon like they have a functioning sun that moves and orbits.
