In every shooter I've ever played the reticle of the scopes are just for show. All those little marks mean squat.
PS2 devs did say that there would be actual bullet physics and drop. I think it would be awsome to compensate for that drop using the reticle marks just like in real life. Im not saying lets get into MOA and Mil dot complications. But for instance, each vertical mark means 50 meters of distance for that gun. The horizontal marks would just be for leading a target and are purely your judgment. There are real life scopes like this. The scope is specifically set up for that bullet type, weight, and velocity. This is the case with the IOR Valdada scope I have on my AR. Its specifically setup for a .308 VLD bullet, 168 grains, @ 2600 fps. Each little mark stands for 50 yards. Maybe I'm crazy, but I think that would be sweet. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] |

I think BattleField 3 had working scope marks, i managed after using the 12x Ballistic scope on the M98B, i eventually learned how to judge distance fairly well, i think each notch would be 100 metres if i recall correctly, but yeah, would be cool to have scopes that are designed for this in mind.
Oh yey, another idea. Can we also get spotters? They get a rangefinder and tell you the distance of a target, maybe they aim at someone, and in a 10 metre radius, it shows the distance from the target on the person. And it wouldn't be information given to anyone other than the sniper, so no spotting for other squad members. |

I approve this idea.
DEV TEAM, get on it! ...is what I would say if I had any right to order the dev team around. So, instead i'll politely ask, *takes hat off and holds it in his hands* "Dev team, I was wondering if maybe you guys could find it in your heart to give us functional range markers on sniper scopes?" --EDIT-- "DEV TEAM! I was wondering if you guys could find it in your heart...." Last edited by Ratstomper; 2012-06-20 at 06:02 PM. |

But i think that would be better, than having a dedicated spotter for you. I approve. *Toppopia's Stamp of Approval* |

That would actually make some sense. You'd have small (even just 2 man) squad with sharpshooter Infiltrator and SL with somekind of targetting/rangefinder multitool. Otherwise the snipers will be all lonewolves. Might want to check out ArmA series then.. :p |

Also, I entirely agree to having functional reticles. Although in the E3 footage bullet drop never seemed severe enough to warrant it. I'd actually like to see bullet drop increased a bit. |
