Full length trailer may be the beta's opening cinematic? How's that idea work for you?

personally i love game trailers, i watch them time and time again if they are good. i wont do it to music, unless its on a game trailer. me being a nut aside. im hyped from what i saw. i think a good game trailer is important with advertising. and i want to see planetside 2 kill it for a decade like the first.

.
when all is said and done its about who is left. and if i know my Republic we will use a Q bomb on this place rather than let you traitors and heretics spreed your incidious ideals

tbh

I LOVE well-done game trailers.

This doesn't look well done.
It looks overdone.
And that's even better!

I mean, some smash-hit titles have had to capture an audience with a cinematic. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and Dawn of War II are great examples of this. They are just series that neeed cinema for players to understand what's going on. I know a trailer is almost a waste of resources, but for PlanetSide 2... it might be highly appropriate.

Isn't everything that is hosted by SOE on the Internet already worldwide?

Though it looks absolutely AWESOME visually I think they made the cinematic look too dark and grey and dreary.

So many critics and previews have praised PS2 for being colorful and vibrant in a world of grey washed out looking futuristic shooters (killzone, Dust 514).

The trailer really loses the color of the game and makes it look more generic than it is.

Still Grade A CGI though.

I guess it'll be cool or whatever but seriously, a countdown for a trailer for a game you've never played? Ease up, yo.

The worldwide premier will also double as the announcement that dis/embarkation animations have been patched into the test/beta build early, and all that "we'd like to do it, but it would delay launch" talk was just a massive bout of community trolling. *ducks*

Ah, I can dream, right?

The new teaser trailer looks epic. I'm a sucker for CG trailers and cut-scenes.
[Try to] shoot me if i'm too excited!

I think it's trying to sell the grittiness of a war scenario, more so than the game play, with promises of massive numbers of players involved in a single fight. Colors are great for game play, both because they're pleasing to the eye and they make (team) identification much easier. Don't get me wrong, it'd be ultra cool if our armor looked battle damaged after fighting for so long or suffering enough damage. Some of my fondest memories from Tribes 2 are just from looking down after a fire fight.

For something you just WATCH for a whole 2 minutes however, layering on the dirt and mud, showing our guys doing wild things like clinging to a galaxy and shooting through the cockpit to kill the pilot with all this chaos going on is just plain freakin' cool.

Bonus points of SOE actually implements a "latch" mechanic for foot soldiers. Grab a vehicle/MAX, you can't move and you can't reload, but you are fixed onto the craft and can fire at it, for all that it may be worth.

Hah, naw... MBT's would turn into transports... or be armored by bodies.
