Ive got a 7950 that is just slightly OCd to 900mhz and a i5 2500k @ 4,2 Ghz:

Maybe Ill OC the GPU a little more in the future but I dont really want to increase the corevoltage yet.

Got a little time to play around with Heaven tonight, ran a couple of tests at different speeds. When I get more time I am going to try for 1300mhz Core/1900mhz Mem

1200mhz Core/1900mhz Mem.

1000mhz Core/1400mhz Mem. (Stock)

1000mhz Core/1900mhz Mem.

1200mhz Core/1600mhz Mem.

Here's my Benchmark. If you go by the 3Dmark score my 560ti is holding back my system pretty severely. The new Galaxy GTX 670 GC comes on monday. I'll rerun the tests then to see what the jump in results are.

I scored P9417.

2500K @ 4.9GHz
7950 @ 1180 Core/1600 Memory
8GB DDR3 @ 1866 10-10-10-30

This is the best I can do till its snowing out I think. GPU just gets too hot and I don't see my CPU getting above 5GHz. I loaded in at 1.5V with 5GHz, but I refuse to run it that high on air even when benching.

Those are good results, you still score higher than almost everyone with similar systems. (Same CPU/GPU)

Yeah that wasn't 100% stable though. Just barely made it through as it had graphical glitches. Max stable clocks I know right now is 4.8GHz on the 2500K and 1150/1450 on my 7950. I was considering switching out to a higher end board to see if I could get my 2500K any higher. Just not sure if its worth it (looking at about $50 after selling off my current one). 7950 just gets very HOT even with the Twin Frozr. I see why the triple slot cards are needed at times...

The 7950 I had got ALOT hotter than the 7970.

They were both Sapphire Dual-OC's and the coolers were almost identical, but the 7970 had the 2.5slot cooler while the 7950 had a 2 slot. The only difference I could see was the "height" of the fins, the 7970 having the "taller" fins.

This Asus card which is 3 slots barely breaks 70c even when overclocked, but I still cant get it any higher on the core than with the Sapphire.

Thats what I don't get. Is it just the 7970 binned chips are that much better for temps? Unless they are gimping the coolers somehow.

My 7950 doesnt go over 64°C at 1000mhz right now. Its a Powercolor 7950 pcs+ which has a pretty good cooling system. Its not the chip alone, its also the cooling setup + the ASIC quality that determines your voltage. I run my 1000mhz with 0,987V which seems to be pretty low (I got 82% ASIC quality).
€dit: Had to increase the voltage to 1,02V to get it stable with S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Btw: Why do you OC your CPU to nearly 5Ghz? I got mine @4,2Ghz and I havent seen a game yet where the CPU is the bottleneck. 5Ghz just wastes more energy

Stock clocks mine is fine. However once I start putting in the addtional voltage the temps go through the roof.

5GHz is just to say I reached 5GHz. Like when I had my E8400 and I was trying to do it and I only got to at most 3.8GHz I think. Come the next stepping those were doing 4GHz+ with ease.

I've seen decent clocks on the stock coolers. What was the most you pushed yours with. I was going to go with the 670 PE w/ Twin Frozr, but I opted for the 7950 instead.
