I think the game is too big.. and there are simply too many people for this to be fair. I have played with this in multiple games, some mentioned here, and they work well in those games because of the small maps and teams. In this game... it would either be /way/ too powerful, even more so than cloaking has ever been, or it will be way under powered because it will be too easy to identify people. There isn't an easy way to make this actually balanced, and it's not because of system mechanics. It is simply the nature of the game. Could you imagine a whole squad of disguised infiltrators? Either too easy to detect, or far too hard to do so in a manner that would save you most times.
Hiding in plain sight is always far more effective and easy than using limited shadows, line of sight, and timing. |

Spies should wear top hats and tuxedos and get posh British accents.
Worked in Red Alert! (Provided you didn't encounter a guard dog. BAD DOGGY. BAD.) So as a counter, I vote we get a watchdog class too with power leaps and shredding action. Would only be fair! >______> *if anyone failed to notice, I was being sarcastic here and there* |

Alright. Enough of this. Time to check this thread for spies!
We should totally do this if we want to appeal to the TF2 Spy Checker crowd! Imagine all the friendlies they could toast and how glad everyone will be they checked! |

I can understand the many FF incidents comments.
I understand less the outcry about "OMG NEVAH TF2 L4ME SPY" from people who didn't even bother reading the thread. For the reading inepts : proposal is not about bringing TF2 Spy in the game. |

If disguised players are underpowered, they will still be unbelievably annoying. Otherwise, they will be horribly overpowered as well as being extremely annoying.
Terrible idea. Sounds fun for a split second before your brain kicks in and tells you that it's one of the worst ideas that could possibly be put into a game on the scale of Planetside 2, especially with friendly fire turned on. |
