Or are they purely energy weapons? Vanu are amazing looking but I'm not too keen on assault rifles that shoot lots of little energy globules.

Lol yeah the vanu have a small obsession with alien technology. Chances are they will never use a traditional projectile weapon.

For all intents a purposes the energy rounds behave just like regular projectiles without bullet drop. The pulsar doesn't even go pew pew.

I like the idea of alien technology, but the option to use bullets would be nice. I like bullet drop, I can imagine I'll be shooting over peoples heads for weeks if I can't customize my gun for old school ammo.

But VS are cool enough to play even if I can't.

edit: I'm a newb to PS, so are there common weapons available to VS that use bullets? I'm not sure how the common pool of equipment/vehicles work. How many weapons/vehicles are there and how many of those are faction locked?

You will still have access to the common pool weapons. I'm sure the punisher (common pool medium assult) will be playable with VS in PS2. The sweeper and bolt driver have been confirmed as well I think.

Common pool means just that. All factions can use "common pool" weapons and usually for every faction specific thing there is a common pool variant. The exception to this is vehicles where there is no common pool MBT or light aircraft.

Ah yeah in PS1 there were common pool weapons available to all factions, so i suppose it's possible that there could be some in PS2 as well. I'm fairly certain we haven't seen any yet though, and the vehicles like the lightning, the sunderer, the galaxy and the flash all have projectile weapons with the options of faction specific weapons. All conjecture of course

And I'm more of a TR man myself, way more bangs and far fewer pews =)

Edit: oh yeah the bolt driver! And I really hope the punisher is back in

Thanks, this basically solidifies my Vanu allegiance.

I'd rather not make a new thread, so I'll just ask here. Would anyone recommend I try out PS1 or is it basically dead these days and/or a poor representation of what I'm looking forward to with PS2.

No problem

It is both of those things. But if you go in with that in mind you might just be pleasantly suprised. The numbers might pick up as beta gets closer and people need a PS fix and hopefully you don't mind dated graphics.

Will NC be able to customize their weapons to rocks and sticks? I mean, they're fascinated with stuff made out of duct tape.

There is NOTHING in life that you cannot fix with duct tape and a hammer. And I dare you to try and think of something that can!

In terms of faction specific weapons yes, Vanu weapons will be more or less energy projectiles (I think). However (correct me if i'm wrong), if all empires share common pool weapons, then it's likely that there might be some bullet based weaponry in the Vanu arsenal.
