Gameplay: News Crew

What do you guys think about servers having two players who are are assigned by SOE GM's as official news crew who are non faction specific for global coverage.

They could enter the battle and film outfits in action and maybe interview soldiers on the front line. Perhaps provide a round up each week of total losses per facton and territory lost/gained.

Exclusive in game interviews with top scorers etc.

I am thinking of a Starship Troopers type style news coverage, without the camera man being eaten ofcourse :P They would probably need to be neutral and perhaps impervious to gunfire in order to get the action shots. Players would see the film crew in game and maybe contribute with some heroic action or whatever!

Perhaps the news reports could be submitted to the planetside2 web page and the Auraxis Global Network.

I think this, if done right, would be a great source of information and light hearted comedy for players and would in the long run inspire them to keep them playing.

Of course finding two people with the skill and commitment to produce a quality broadcast could be a challenge but it would be really great to see SOE provide the tools for this.

Maybe have both a neutral, and faction specific newscast. That way we can have our fix of faction bias.

WMBA is already planning to do something like this. But NCentric.

You would have to pay me to be a news person, if I'm not going to be able to play the game.

But I know how to exactly work this if this was an option. I would actually enjoy it. But then again, I have never played PS so I would lack knowledge on certain aspects of the game.
