My Vanu Sovereignty-branded (permanent marker) flashlight and half recitation of Gilbert and Sullivan weren't enough to get a beta invite yesterday. Perhaps today...
The public-tweeted ones are gone too quickly to bother. |

I wouldn't say "sour grapes", infact some of us are far from it. For me I was merely asking a question. Unless that type of behaviour is forbidden on a forum. Anywho..., well done with the keys, my son and I are both looking for one each, would be nice to 'fight' along side my son

I couldn't bother with both. I'm sure eventually I'll get an invite, so I'm being patient. I'm not going to beg on facebook and twitter(Two of my most hated sites) just to get a key I can get by waiting. So screw you Facebook, Screw you twitter, I'm going to get a key anyways... SOON.

Radar, how about throwing a few keys to outfit leaders on the still active outfits (remember the outfit have got their own communities going on in the background) and we can distribute those to friends of outfit members. It's good support for outfits!

I don't understand the logic. Being PS1 vets should rule us out of Twitter-given keys. Twitter-keys should target newcomers to the genre, SOE needs all kind of population for feedback
And on Twitter, they are handing keys to people showing they are true fans/followers of original PS1 (ie, vets...). They won't have much newcomers in beta, this way had they done this the other way around : handle keys to vets first, at 1st E3 day, then doing their twitter giveaway, they'd have less vets spamming for keys on twitter, and more newcomers getting them Last edited by Kalbuth; 2012-06-07 at 04:52 AM. |

I personally love this way of marketing, it spreads the keys out to a wider audience than it would giving them to a fansite or similar.
What I do hate though is my complete lack of wittyness if you will, I have never managed to gather someones attention. Some just have it in them I guess. |

I can definately see the benefit in the advertising, I simply want to know if the application filled out before the keys were handed out still counts. I am not really a gambling man and I want this game to succeed considering PS1 lasted almost 10years, so information from New Zealand, which is very far away from the servers would prove beneficial in stress testing the netcode, which is what a beta is for. I can also see the vets point of view, of which I am not, in stress testing the actual mechanics of the game, of which they know how to play, if a button is broken, they'll probably find it first. These things will make the final product a DREAM to play. However, I also realise the devs are busy busy busy, so I'll exercise patience and wait also, some good points in this thread.

Sigh, July PC Gamer is out of stock, so I guess it leaves twitter for me. Or PS1 sub, but I don't feel like paying 15$ for early beta access.
The problem with twitter is that it doesn't only require wit, but also a lot of luck. I bet they're spammed by hundreds of people per minute during giveaway. There is a chance to get a key and that's it - a chance. Also I can't stand people posting old fanart, that wasn't made by them, and getting a key. I guess that's what I get for playing fair and posting pics actually made by myself. |

Pretty disappointed in the twitter/facebook giveaways.
I wish they would go through planetside universe and give keys to people who have actually contributed ideas in the idea vault, and also give large blocks of keys to outfit leaders. Much better approach than handing out keys to random social network dweebs. |

So after learning how to use twitter and asking for a beta key, gmail informs me that a hacker tried to access my gmail from vietnam. Thank goodness he didnt get through; and ive amped up my security to "very strong". goodluck to the next hacker who tries, and if hes successful, ill look into 128bit random encryption keys. but honestly i really dont want to have to go learn that road just yet.
We prevented the sign-in attempt in case this was a hijacker trying to access your account. Please review the details of the sign-in attempt: Thursday, June 7, 2012 6:32:51 AM GMT IP Address: 125.234.4.10 Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam so one more thing to worry about i guess. |
