We had snow today. It melted as it hit the ground. So it looks like it was raining, only colder. Stupid west coast. We never get snow here :/

Well that's cause %90 of the people where you live are over 80 years old!

It's really foggy outside. I love the fog.

I grew up in

BUFFALO, NEW YORK

So I know quite a bit about driving in snow and little-to-no visibility. It starts snowing in Buffalo in October and doesn't stop until April but if you're lucky, maybe it'll stop in March.

When I was living in New York, my older sister was borrowing my car (I didn't want a car in Manhattan). She, the idiot, was driving:

-Too fast
-In the left lane of a 3-lane highway
-During a blizzard.

She obviously spun my car out and slammed into the median. She, thankfully, was alright. My car, however, has never recovered. The driver's side front was all crushed and guess where the fuse box is? Right up there. She also did me a great favor by taking the car to be repaired by a company that should be called "Pay For Nothing" because that's exactly what we did. But I digress.

Learning how to drive in snow is a great advantage to you. You'll know just when to feather your gas and just how slow you need to apply the brakes. Unfortunately the amount of people who are capable of driving safely in snow conditions are the minority. You just have to stay that much farther behind the car ahead of you and drive that much slower!

My father is a manager/public relation for company to School Board/mechanic/bus run planer/Driver trainer/Safety coordinator/ pretty much everything for a bus garage. So he teaches all his drivers how to drive with 42 screaming, spawns of Satan in bad weather. He also has to go get the busses unstuck when they do get stuck. So he taught me too. I havent gotten stuck or in an accident yet. Im sure I will get stuck someday, but hopefully I wont get in any accident. At least one that isnt my fault. i.e. Getting rear ended by a guy going to fast.

I think Plattsburg (Kyonye) and I have the snow and cold weather thing the hardest by far, ( i lived like 1hr from him) it was common for my town to get the lowest temp in the nation many times during the year which sucked because they would still have everything running (school, work).

The best place to learn how to drive in the snow is on a frozen lake.

Back when I lived in Wisconsin I lived near Lake Winnebago. For those that do not know that lake is only about 40' at its deepest, which means that it gets nice and solid after about a month of below freezing conditions.

When I turned 16 and had my license it got very cold that winter. My buddies and I decided to go drive on the lake. I learned more about controlling my car in slippery conditions that weekend than any experience on the highway can. If it is possible, go out and drive on a frozen lake with your car. Get to know how she handles the ice and you'll be better prepared.

For those who have done this and lost their vehicle to the lake, you are an idiot and deserve to lose your car that way.

Yes, it's just called Toronto. The Greater Toronto area includes all the townships and suburbs around Toronto
