Kind of defeats the purpose of kinetic dampeners when you can just repel out of an aircraft. On one hand repelling out of an aircraft is very cinematic and cool looking, but it seems like it would only slow down hot drops. Maybe if certain vehicles were restricted from hotdropping it would make sense.
On the other hand seeing a huge dropship fly over and dropping off a ton of people glowing blue on top of me often instigates a sudden bowel movement in my pants. Basically, hot dropping is fine as it is now but it could possibly be a skill gained further in the skill tree for vehicles that are restricted for hot drops...Even though that's stupid and doesn't make any sense. |

I think you've hit the nail on the head.
One thing that's being ignored here is the possibility of going UP a rope (or monofilament line). Grapple guns, sky hooks from a gal. Similar to the airlift in Batman Begins, your troops stand near one another and pop their skyhook tethers. The Gal pilot flys into/below them, and you're all carried off with the Galaxy. |
