Iv always ran the PS2 beta under Steam as an added game. Got a few "WTF, HOW?!"s. But it's nice to see the official Steam store page. It'll make things a bit easier as well. Steam loves to remove added games from my lists time to time.

Pretty sure he said answered someone on twitter like a month ago saying they would be on Steam on day 1. The question is what you will even get for buying it on there. Some sort of starter bundle pack I imagine, and a shortcut to the launcher lol. It's on there purely for visibility really. Though I would eat my words if there was achievements or something. But I strongly doubt it uses Steam for anything but advertising. |

The MMO's I've played on Steam have all had their patches in time. Typically, Steam just launches to the game's main client, where everyone then logs into the servers and checks for updates. In this case, I'm assuming Planetside 2 will work the same way. It will download the client files to a Steam directory, then launch via the SOE launchpad as normal. No need to avoid Steam in this case.
