Why is this thread in 'Planetside 2 Discussion'? If anything, you're talking about your experience in PS1 (people playing on different servers for bigger battles, etc), but more likely it's overall gaming and servers, hence "Why I always blah blah blah"

Interesting opposite for me regarding #4.

take apb reloaded for example.. I am in ohio but yet I play now only on west coast colby servers because the joker east coast server had so many more obvious hackers and griefers and basic immature douchbaggery imo.

Everyone has different experience..

Emerald was very roller coaster with the pop near the end. Markov was much more stable even if it never reached the top end Emerald did.

Whereas up until the server merge between the two somehow Werner had pops that were higher than both of those, according to Raijinn Werner even had higher pops than Markov and Emerald combined prior to the merger, which was why Werner was left out initialy. :/

Right after the merge however, Gemini was flooded by Wernerians just for higher total pops (and as others had said, because many had alts there anyway, making it easy to transfer), making it almost 4:1 in ratios (people left with us, people added to Gemini). Within a week, Gemini:Werner pop ratio declined to what, 6:1 and got progressively worse as Werner became too desolate to play almost over night. :/

It would make sense that Emerald had higher fluctuations, BECAUSE of the Euro players playing from significantly different time zones whereas the fast majority of Markovians played in the same timezone. The trans-atlantic time difference couldn't be more obvious.

Yeah, the mass exodus of Werner was a little silly imo. I remember logging in on the VS side with... nine VS players total online, we had 55% world pop.

lol LA ain't that hard dude, I live in Miami and when I hit up LA with my boy Danny and Raul, we walked up and down Crenshaw, partied all over the place at night and met all kinds of peeps, and to be honest, I've never seen so many idiots per square foot, than in LA.

rofl... every town ever has its group of idiots. you can't base the population of a city on the few people you and your dipshit friends met, especially not in one night, especially not in one area.

Dallas is a major internet hub. My pings to Dallas game servers from Seattle is nearly as good as local pings.

Chicago wouldn't be a bad option either. Good east coast pings, decent west coast too.

The whole east coast west coast thing is a waste when we can have a central server that provides well for everyone. Its an unnecessary player divide.

1. 75% of the US/Canada population lives in the East and Central time zones. While servers are often full in the early months of any popular game, over time they dwindle and if the game becomes lower populated overall, the "lead" East Coast servers will become significantly more populated than the "lead" West Coast servers almost all the time.

2. Euros. European players who like to play overnight will often make an alt character on East Coast USA servers in order to be in bigger battles. Ping penalties aren't that severe from West and Central Europe.

NOTE: I played with a lot of Euros, and even Aussies, who have stated that their pings were better on the USA East Coast Server then on the Euro Server.

3. Latin American players. A trend that's somewhat recent, but there are a lot of gamers these days from Brazil especially. Internet routing comes up through Miami, and thus favors EC servers.

PS1 - I don't recall seeing to many people speaking spanish on. But in other games they are heavily populated during their prime times.

4. Maturity. I don't what it is, but East Coast players are somewhat less juvenile that West Coast players. I don't know why that is, but I've observed this trend in numerous games going back to Ultima Online.

Number 4 is easy, but there are two versions.

1st Everyone knows that you have to be crazy to live in a land that will fall off into the sea in some future earthquake. Ya kinda have to like being shook around alot to live there and definately need to learn how to swim.

2nd. Every ones knows that the west coast has a large populated state called California - see link above.

People who think they are entitled to everything always act imature, unreasonable, and juvenile. There fore less mature.

Kinda like when a little kid does not get his way or what he wants when at the store. The tantrum - yes that it the tantrum.

Kinda like the VS and the NC are in Planetside. They don't like the TR way so they rebel. Like children they must be punished. Bad little NC bad little VS.

Nope that don't work guess we are gonna have to kill them in PS2.
