The death screen needs to be redesigned

In almost every game, the death screen can be skiped,is short or is just a small message that pops up and gives you info on your death while not interfering with the gameplay.
In planetside 2 it's not like that, it forces you to sit thru an annoying and dull death screen, looking at the guy who killed you.
There should be an option to skip it by hiting escape(or some other key) or they could make it smaller and put it at the bottom of the screen, so you can immediately access the map screen to se what's going and not be forced to look at the guy who killed you.

This would be extreamly usefull for platoon leaders who need to keep an eye on the map all the time, those few annoying seconds in the death screen could be used to analyze the situation and give orders to your comrades.

And you need to be able to chat/see text chat while dead. This is still an MMO even though it's a shooter. Things you could do in Everquest 13 years ago you can't do in PS2.

It does need changing... It's also in SOE's road map...not sure when but it's definitely there

Yep it's on the roadmap. The death screen as it is now pretty much only exists due to player feedback.

But what about all those 1337 cosmetics people pay for to taunt people they kill in the death screen? I mean, there's just no other possible way for anyone to notice that I have a PS1 decal...

What's the problem that people have with the death-screen again? I wasn't aware there was an issue with it.

Aside from the obvious stuff, like the descriptions for the weapons you're killed by being basically useless and sometimes cut-off.

I've always assumed that the unskippable death screens were just a subtle part of the respawn timer.

At least you can't customise your own death theme, like all points bulletin.

The way I see, you died. You SHOULD be punished. If it rattles you up that much, make an effort to live longer.

But seriously (or more seriously rather) seeing who killed you can actually be a good thing. That way, you know if you're always getting sniped by the same guy or team killed or if a certain tank keeps blowing you up or if a certain infiltrator is always stealth killing you.

Personal, I want the enemy to know who killed them. Learn to fear me. Learn to adapt.
