It's bad enough that so many people will only be going around fighting for kills anyway, even with teammates begging for help on objectives...it needs no encouragement by deathmatch events!

AI Defense as base upgrades might be the best idea I have heard yet. Like you said, it might be the answer to 1 man or small contingent ghost hacks destroying the map every evening.

AI on a TIGHT LEASH might actually be beneficial. Very beneficial.

Wow...I first had this idea for AI defenders stopping stealth capping by 1 guy way back in 2000/2001 when I was following WW2 Online and finally someone likes it, lol...

Of course, I also wanted fuel to be modeled in the game, limited aircraft available per hour/day(which would force you to fly your plane back to base and land after a mission and log it back into the base, otherwise your team loses one).
