Nawww, just think of the TRs as being able to do proper rounded filed edges.

Fair enough, but consider a name change.

TR names were descriptions of slightly evil occupations. Prowler, Marauder, Raider, Invader, Juggernaut, Colossus.. Mosquito?

Reaver would fit better in the TR naming scheme. Name the NC one Raptor, since they love bird names(plus it has the dinosaur appeal). As for the VS.. I'm sure Freeman appreciates the sentiment, but its not a terribly intimidating name. My vote is Meteor.

Wasn't Freeman Dyson an American? And what's "smarty-pants" about a british accent, anyway?

He immigrated to America when he was in his 30s.

I dunno'... I live in the South and mosquitoes are pretty friggin' awesome down here. They scare me more than anything that prowls or invades or raids.

Huh, I didn't know that. Note to self, do basic research next time.

And this solidifies my choice to play NC Air.
And most likely suck at it, but whatever

Haha, I agree!

Without Sanctuaries, I wonder if we'll still have VR areas to train and practice in? With only continental footholds as they stated, I wonder if I'm gonna' have to kamikaze my way towards becoming a real pilot or if there's a way I'll be able to train without getting wtfkerpwnz0r'd while I'm buzzing around in circles near a base?

Cool direction, however i was kinda hoping for more vehicles added to the old favorites, rather than less vehicles types, but with customisation instead.

Ah well... we'll see what they have in store for us soon enough
My exact same thoughts, only hours before me. This is what I get for not check the VIP Tracker more.

Yep, and it fits the Vanu lore quite well too. It's alien technology at least partly crewed by Terrans but far more advanced than anything the Earth Alliance built on their own. It's faster and more maneuverable than other ships in its class. It's partly organic, and alive. It had a few unique abilities not present in Terran-built ships (artificial gravity, organic energy absorbing armour, the ability to open its own jump point so it wasn't dependent on jump gates, etc). It's even purple for chrissake!

Heck even the name of one of the alien races that helped build the dang things seems connected. Vorlons.... Vanu... Sound Familiar?

Yeah. It's called the Phantasm. Handles like a bitch, but she's the fastest ship in five parsecs. She'll do point-five past lightspeed.

Mosquitoes so bad-ass, you mace them with OFF and they mutate. So badass that you slap one, and he gets back up and pistol-whips you like Ray Liotta in Goodfellas.

I've been having a lot of fun watching you guys speculate about this the last couple days, a couple of you got it pretty much dead on:

Each empire has their own unique air fighter in PS2. The Reaver belongs to NC, the Mossy is TR. The VS have a new fighter that we're currently calling the Dyson, although that may change (and no, it's not powered by cyclone technology or a smarty-pants British accent).

Each has slightly different flight mechanics, strengths, weaknesses and capabilities which help to reinforce and round out the empire.

Each of these fighters will serve multiple roles depending on how the player loads out the vehicle, you can configure any of them to be more air-to-air orientated, air-to-ground orientated, etc. You'll be able to change out afterburners to get more speed, or armor to get more durability, countermeasures, radar dampening, etc. We're working on a lot of really cool gameplay here, I think you all will be stoked and I can't wait to share a bit more about them soon! =)
i'd like to see a continuation of the naming schemes from PS1.

VS = Stars
NC = Birds of Prey
TR = Roman

i'm glad to see the modular vehicle idea in there. i suggested it WAAAAY back in the day (which is not to say i'm the only person who did so).

Let's have some electronic warfare modules: jammers, comms interception, comms spoofing, Anti Radiation Missiles, Ground Radar.... It could add a new dimension to the game.

/loves the Dyson reference
//lame name for an aircraft though
