Dynamic Roving Bases vs Static Base


Having a static foothold will generate a very static war. The zone of influence of each empire will always be high at the main base. In turn this will generate repetitive frontlines. My suggestion is to create roving bases along the shore that has extended bridge beachhead inland.

NC Base = Naval Barge
TR Base = Pedaled Platform
VS Base = Floating Platform

These Bases can move along the shore in two directions in defined paces (the shore being a line, hence along the shoreline)

1) Strategic Player Input - Every two hours, the top 50% of the empire players within the continent can VOTE whether to move forward, backward or remain on the spot.

2) Base Wars - In an event two bases collide, a special battle will be initiated with special objectives ( example: destroy 3 enemy base navigation sensors ). The losing base will auto retreat 2 paces back or the winner base can be allowed to pass or skip the other base.

3) Base Upgrades - Players can donate their resources to the base for upgrades ( improved speed, turrets, drones, objective shields etc.)

4) Player Donor Ranking - A special ranking for top base benefactors for players who aren't into kill rankings.

Not only will the dynamic bases solve static and repetitive frontlines, it will also add an extra strategic facet to the metagame.

Interesting ideas. I think eventually the footholds will be replaced most likely by some kind of sanctuary system like in PS1, but in the meantime, since they're launching with just 3 continents, the foothold system will either have to be dealt with as is until the sancs come along, and/or once we get more continents (4-5ish etc...) then some continents can have different systems.


Your idea is definitely interesting; there've been other posts in here somewhere (key term is somewhere lol) that suggest similar things. The only thing I'm not so sure about with your suggestion is the voting/directional thing. Definitely a cool idea for ship-to-ship fighting, but then these footholds wouldn't really be footholds me thinks. Perhaps this is something that could also be implemented in the future as one of the weekend events (another thread somewherein here lol).
