Randomly crashing to desktop

I have a very high end pc, with Gainward 680 GTX 5gb . i recently installed again PS2 to test out my new rig, and the game kept crashing to desktop without error message in the first 5- 10 minutes. So it turned out the Physx was turned on and thats why it was crashing. Turned it off, now the game runs smooth and no crash. Why the fuck is Physx there in the graphics option if it doesnt work properly? it would be nice to have though , before it crashed i could test it out, like explosion leaves the debris on the ground and shit. FIX IT ASAP

I can play with Phys-x on for around an hour before the performance degrades to the point im watching a slide show and eventually it crashes, pretty sure its a memory leak, so it will be fixed eventually however I don't think it is a huge priority.

It was happening to my friend, it was his power supply the problem, it took a long time to figure it out.

PS: This may not be your problem, maybe you should try beta drivers.

Re: Physx makes the game crash to desktop

Well i was wrong, yesterday the game crashed few times but physy was off. so its not physx causing it. Memory leak could be. i have 32gb ram, maybe its too much? Is there a software where you can limit how much memory an apllication can use? maybe also set the affinity for CPU? anyone have a clue? power supply cannot be, i have a corsair 850 W, watercooled i7. Gainward 680 gtx (5gb ) game is not balanced for super high end pcs? xD

The game is not really optimized for anything, some low end pcs have amazing performance some dont, same for high end rigs. Sadly at this stage it looks like a waiting game and a lot of ini tweaking haha.

Hmmm, odd, I rarely if ever CTD in PS2. I've had 6 hour sessions without a single hiccup. Used to play with PhysX on low but the particles would usually just end up blocking my view so I turned them off.

Click that CPU-Z Validator Graphic below for my Rigs Stats if you need to compare.

i have the same issue.

new rig with gtx 680 4gb

crashing from time to time, but crashing every few minutes if physix is turned on.

no matter what drivers i use.

only error message: program stopped working

and this was not a problem during beta and with early release! don´t know when exactly it started because the game is so bad, i couldn´t force myself to play it very often.

power supply can´t be the problem, i bought my rig from a pro who builds high end gaming rigs and tests them.

lets try to delete the useroption.ini and just use the ingame ultra settings with physx off

i already tried deleting the ini, i tried resetting nvidia controls to factory defaults, i tried overclocked and standard settings, and my computer has more fans than the rolling stones.

i also tried different ps2 settings, but the only thing that helps is turning off physix. without physix crashes to desktop happen about once per hour, sometimes i can play up to 2 hours.

with physix on i crash immediately after first spawn, and when i restart the game i can play for about 20-30 minutes, then crash again. EVERY time.

i find it very interesting, that after starting up my computer, i ALWAYS crash to desktop seconds after spawning, but when starting the game a second time i can play for 30 minutes before i crash again.

Re: Physx makes the game crash to desktop

it´s too late to fix it "fast"

this crash issue is around for several months now. i reported it several times via ingame bug report and here, but nothing happened. no answer, no fix.
but i don´t even care any more because most of the time i am already frustrated enough about the gameplay when it crashes, so the crashing does no harm.
