Server Names - Back with the Old!

Its not like the VET outfits are going to............. "Psst which server you heading for"................. "that one over there"............."Coolbeans, kill you there"................ or anything is it?

Also consider the amount of new outfits and increase in size of outfits as a result of beta. These new outfits should be on par with the VET outfit by the end of closed beta (I'm hoping for a 6month closed beta)

I think it's not fair to new players that old players would get to play on servers that are called the same name as when they were playing in the original.

The feelings of nostalgia would give them an unfair advantage and allow them to reconnect with people they played with a long time ago.

Shouldn't vets have to reconnect with their old friends the hard way? ie by asking people when they played, what outfit they were in, etc... By not including server names you actually ENHANCE the social aspects of this game.

I want old server names so that people from Markov will go back to Markov etc. I want to see old buddies that I've lost contact with.

it will take 90% of all the outfits months to figure shit out,there will be a few old outfits that have the discipline to control their ppl while working out the kinks,
it will take new outfits longer because they have to learn all the ppl management skills needed to control large groups of FPS players.

and I am all for playing on Markov

I'd say go for new names.

Seems like it could be a bad idea to have the vets emotionally attached to a server like this. It's a new game, people should pick the server that fits them best, not the one with a name familiar from 5 years ago.
(Yes, I am a PS1 vet. I'll miss Markov and Emerald, but I don't want my nostalgia to be a drawback for the devs.)

Man, I'd love to go back to NC-Emerald. Then again, you'd probably get such heavy concentrations of players going to the retro servers, it'd be imbalanced. I would love if they referenced the old servers in some way though.

Being F2P, there are going to be many many more PS2 servers than PS1 had at it's peak. So even if they used the old server names... they'd have to make up new ones to add in as well.

Although if there's a Markov server for PS2 you bet I'm there.

This is why it's a bad plan.

There are likely going to be a lot more servers, but using the legacy names will only guide vets to pick certain ones. I don't see any reality in which that is a good thing. There are just so many reasons you don't want that to happen.
