Those suckers do break, and really aren't all they are cracked up to be. The higher end Digital plantronics are MUCH more sturdy, and also much better, and much more expensive. But you can prolly find i think the 500 model, for 70-90 range on ebay.

My suggestion though is a mic base station. I had a high end plantronics and it sucked compared to the Labtec (usually cheap POS) base station I bought. I did a number of comparisions between the two and it was not even close and everyone on my TS channel agreed in sounded 10x better. Also my ears were driving me nuts after wearing the headset for long periods of time and I much prefer my speakers to ear phones.

I picked up a CA (cyber acustics) headset from Fred Meyer for 20 bucks. The thing has been stepped on, rolled over, dropped, kicked, even fell in my beer the other night. Stills works like a champ.

It has good audio, a surprisingly good mike, and a remote volume and mute.

Been using it for 9 months now. If it does break, I'll go buy another one.

I agree with ya Rbstr, but I use the headset when I play late at night and don't want to wake the house. I used the labtec desk mic until I found a decent full ear headset w/mic at a local computer show. Will add the name when I get home.

AC 633r looks good. I'd get that one if I didn't already have a plantronics headset. Full across the ears with mic. It's the shizznizzel.

Thats a pretty nice price for dsp-500, but not sure if you'll really need to spend that much for PS play. The 644R looks good as it has the volume control and gold plated connectors.
