News: IGN.com DCU and PS2 going to PS4

When Sony announced that the PlayStation 4 wasn't going to be backwards compatible or allow you to download current PlayStation Network titles, DC Universe Online players freaked out. Had the hours spent creating heroes and villains in the MMO been a waste?

Today, Sony Online Entertainment has an answer: no. DC Universe Online is coming to the PlayStation 4 -- and so is Planetside 2, the first-person shooter MMO currently available for PC.

The odds of the PC and PS4 sharing servers is incredibly low. The PS4 version is most likely going to lag behind the PC version as the dev team works on the PC version and then another internal team ports the changes to the PS4 version.

They are already set up as a PC development shop. The core of the game is there.

Why did you have to use these two words next to each other? Oh, my headache...

On a sidenote - well, as long as the console players are treated as inferior, I'm fine with it. In more gentle words - PC should remain the main platform for PS2.

It would not be fair to mix PC and console players on the same server... console players would never have a chance in hell to even get out of the warpgate before they die.

So let me get this straight there not going to make a server for console users there going to put them on the same servers as us, am I correct in what i am reading. ...... If so may god haver mercy on there poor game pad weilding souls.

Not sure how you got that, it's pure speculation really. But I am also very interested in learning the answer, if it's a cross platform system (as in everyone plays on the same servers) it'll be a huge breakthrough

If it's allowed for players to be on the same server then PS4 will enable keyboard/mouse controls identical to PC support.

Otherwise it's not even in contention and has been proven wrong before.

I speculated that Planetside 2 would come to Playstation 4 and really, with consoles becoming steadily more like PCs, it's not really surprising. A lot of my curiosity is based around what we don't know about the PS4. Will the servers be cross platform? If so, will the PS4 be compatible with keyboard and mouse? Will there be graphics settings? Will we create characters through Station or PSN? Etc.

I'm very excited for this. I hope Planetside's introduction into the console market will skyrocket its popularity.
