Virrago just posted a reply on the official forums, apparently he is looking into turning them off again.

I'm going to try and keep my eyes open with all the different types you mentioned. I am sure a few guys already are doing this.

Go for it, hell point as many of the unwashed mass's as you can to this document, the more information they can learn the better equipped they'll be to find and correctly identify hackers.

Station Launcher Point. Though Virrago is doing his best to get it down now. Not sure if it has been done yet or not.

Overall, I have compiled together a list of people I have seen cheating, generally if there isn't video evidence it's because I've only seen them do it 1-2 times and never had the opportunity to turn fraps on. It also shows a means as to how to recognize/identify cheaters in general.

Perhaps you and Hamma should conspire to create a Name and Shame Directory on PSU.

It's actually a lot easier then it seems. I only hunt down the hackers who I actually see cheating like this guy.

I only recorded him, because his dumb ass used a no reload gauss rifle to kill me on oshur from about 50 meters while standing up.

Standing up, full auto, perfect COF, 50 meters, reload animation. So I borrowed a friends account, made a character on NC recorded him for a bit.

If I were given GM access to this game, I would do nothing but hunt down hackers constantly, and I would catch quite a few of them.

Re: PlanetSide trials are back up and working

I predict Sony will crucify hackers in the new game.

I believe that almost the whole team has been at work creating PS2, so not so much manpower was focused on refereeing the game.

But, once the game goes live, hoo hah, Sony has a vested interest in being known as the most aggressive hacker-attacking company in cyberspace.

They will do more this time around, and I believe, code in stuff to raise flags automatically.

Stuff that's easy to code: number of rounds fired from a given weapon in a given time. Will display to them, reload hack potential etc.

That's what I think. I think Sony will be on top of it for our sakes and theirs.

Policing hackers is simple.

Just freakin do it.

When they release the game, make it clearly known that the first offense is a straight up ban for life. There's no reason someone who breaks a user agreement should be given a second chance.

I too believe they will do a lot better this time around, and I'm sure the technology to detect said hacks is a lot better, so I'm not too worried about it.
