Well if all 3 are pop-locked then you queue up in the server or choose a different server. That is WAY different than already being in the game and getting kicked out. I don't know of any games that kick you out of the game once you are playing. Crashes are bad enough.

FORGELIGHT. WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? there will be no such thing as pop-locking or cont-locking. its not like the server is going to be like, "oh no, we can't handle this many players anymore because ps2 wasn't designed to have combat on this scale"

I would hope so, or at least a base number they'll steadily raise as they work out the details with the net code and server management. Or better yet, 2000 is just to get people to realize the scope of what they hope to accomplish.

More likely, just as it was in PS1, I think the 2000 number is a max they are hoping to reach and the actual player count will go down from there before launch. Even if it drops all the way down to 1000, I think I'll still be pretty ecstatic.

So by your retarded logic, in Planetside, each empire would hold their home continents and split an equal share within all the other continents. I mean in Planetside thanks to the lattice, you just need to defend a base, and just ignore all the territory around it. That's way easy. It is just a complete stalemate.
That's what you want me to believe? That Planetside 2 is going to be a total stalemate? Really? Last edited by Raymac; 2012-03-29 at 11:22 PM. |

Even if they remove the footholds and give every empire one continent it would be the same thing again just on a continent scale. This is what happens when you can't win the game. Either way I'm just not a fan of the footholds. I'd rather them not have anything like footholds or sanctuaries and instead have some sort of deployable forward operating base that players or outfits deploy in random areas. That would add some dynamic aspects to the maps and would allow the entire map to be captured. |

Sorry. I don't buy it. The territory changed hands drastically in Planetside and you were forced into literal hardened chokepoints (bases) everytime you want to move forward. In Planetside 2, it is going to be way more wide open by being able to capture territory and not just bases.
Will it sway back and forth? Well yeah, if it is balanced, it should, right? I just don't buy this malarkey that it will be an essential stalemate and we'll only be fighting over the same few hexes in the middle. That's not how it was in PS1 and it's not how it is going to be in PS2. |

miir is right though, raymac.
with one foothold per continent, it's set up to be a continental stalemate with three footholds per continent, it's set up to be a stalemate on each continent though, consider three footholds on only one continent, how about that? |
