Shields?

I was thinking it might be cool to have a shield option in the game... I'm talking about a riot type shield that you can carry say in a rifle slot... to add extra armor to players willing to sacrafice a rifle slot...

Perhaps it could look like a pair of bucklers (small shields that strap to your forearms)? This would look really cool...

I think about 50 armor sounds right and it would be an item selectable in the armor section of an equipment terminal.

This would pretty much be a Rexo added armor option for using only 1 weapon rather than 2...

I wouldn't mind seeing some HALO-Jackelish sort of thing if it restricted you only to the Suppressor or pistols. I'd rather they make it a largish Riot Shield which absorbs a hefty bit of damage (like 100/150) but only from attacks coming from the front.

Just hide behind a MAX or use personal shield implant.

Get a shield implant at sanc (need BR 8 or over to get implants), just stand still to use it, or it only last for 8s when running. Or hide behind a max.

I have Pshield, it's completely useless assaulting a position, and MAXes have the combat life expectancy of a Harrasser in a tank fight.

I'm not talking about an energy type shield like a vehicle shield or what the personal shield implant gives you. I'm talking about a physical shield that you carry that adds to your armor total. This would take up a rifle slot to force a choice between weapon versatility and added armor protection.

Perhaps a shield would not be that easy to implement because of the extra model blocking animations. So perhaps a beefier breast plate on your armor would be cool with a wicked shoulder pad design (Spikes? Flared protrusion? Etc�).

Of course you could use this with agile or standard armor, but would be left with only pistol slot(s). So this would mostly be used my Rexos.

i dont think the shields would work..but the beefier armor ...but not spikes or flares...just more of it...then watch all the BR 4 noobs get it and watch them run very slowly across the field (b/c that would obviously have some speed reduction) and watch them get nailed by a flail round
