Is their a strategy behind having teams unload Lasher, Lancer, Flare Gun rounds?

Recently, on Mattherson I noticed large outfits of Vane simply unloading tons of Lasher, Lancer, and Flare gun round in the direction of the enemy without hitting anything.

Honestly, I have begun to wonder if their is actually a reason behind doing it, other than for the sake of lols.

So does anyone know why people are lately grabbing tons of Lasher, Lancers, and Flare guns and firing them in the general direction of the enemy?

P.S. I know the flare gun in excess creates a lot of distraction and lag for ESF's but creating lag couldn't be the reason behind this tactic... could it? (I mean its like 1-5 fps drop from normal, but still)

Supressing fire? Diversionary? Trying to make it look like there's more forces holding that line then there really is? For shits and giggles?

Other then that..no idea.

Hmm.. maybe.... Honestly, making themselves look larger than they are or a diversionary tatics makes the most sense...

All of the above, except the Lag, either check your graphics settings or upgrade your PC.

As a VS on Briggs, the Lasher is definitely a suppression and diversionary weapon. TR and NC troops take unnecessary risks taking out the easy to spot (and not so easy to kill with medic support) Lasherman, often revealing their position for return fire by VS snipers, MAXs and Engineers.

The Lasher is also an excellent spotting weapon for revealing cloaked infiltrators and enemies behind cover. VS troops learn to watch a Lasherman spraying, and when he fixes on a position (often just on hitmarker feedback), you'll see a lot of other incoming fire as well.

The Lancer fire is not easily distinguished from MAX Vortex cannons, the difference is they're paired (left and right Vortex) there are much more of them (Vortex has a large magazine than a Lancer).

As for the flares, no, they're just for show.
