With the lack of interest to have to sit and guard an AMS for lengthy periods of time, I think it would be nice for the AMS to have a mobile SOI built in when it is deployed. This would allow for turrets to be built in a small area around the deployed AMS, and if the AMS is destroyed or moves then any turrets not in the SOI are immediately powered down or deconstructed. Thoughts and comments?

the thought on this and all defences is that they should be manual most, if not all, of the time. The idea is to keep people involved, to keep to the PvP theme.
if you are attacking a base, we also want the defenders to have a chance at squahing the attack thru destroying your ams. adding turrets to the mix would just make it too difficult to do, plus it would be more player[defender] vs. enviroment[turrets] and not PvP like the theme of the game.

Besides.. taking an AMS down is already difficult, those things will soak up the damage and they have enemy soldiers spawning out of them... they are, by default, "well defended" just thru their use.


Trepp: the ams is only for the driver. no passengers. but you are right, outfits/squads will quickly learn that they need someone with an ams cert on the team, if not a couple. They are becoming a vital item in staging sucessful base attacks. as for beefing up your ams guy, it can really be any sort of charcater. if you plan on trying a full support role, you might also go for a max cert to defend the ams with, and combat/medical/repair certs to to help out folks as they need it.
fratboy: yes, you can set up favorites and select one set to respawn with. as for the ams warning, i dunno, i havent played in a commander's role but once, plus alot of that command stuff is still being worked on, so anything i did guess on would just be a guess.

MAX's are counted as soldiers in this case and should have the same respawn timer as a typical soldier.
