Allowing skins would be an uber bad idea. Always results in some SOB figuring out a way to use it to cheat.

well.. no one in eq has managed to "Cheat" it to a point where someone get an overwhelming advantage.... theres not a great deal of 'hacking' you can do in XML since it's supposted to mainly describe data, if i remember correctly, not to 'program' things...

adding XML was nice though..

Worst 'hacking' i heard of was someone got his in-gameMP3 player to play prono movies instead of mp3's.. =p

I dunno, someone was telling me about programs in EQ and DOAC (Odin's Eye?) that generate a map on another computer on your network for you with everything that's near you marked. That might be handy in an FPS.

That reminds me of the time I played AD&D at my friends house. We had SO MUCH FUN! Of course, we were all drunk off our asses and doing stupid stuff. The DM was just as drunk so he was like making it up as he goes along. What a dumbass!

The XML thing... they would have to be very careful with how they implemented it. it does in fact open a whole can of worms for them to protect against. The reason no one has found a way to cheat in EQ is because the game is so damn slow that what you or your enemies look like doesn't matter one bit. If all they allowed you to do was change how you look to yourself and no one else then there wouldn't be any easy way to cheat with it. However, I wouldn't say impossible!
