I don't like the idea of having to pay to start an outfit. There are going to be LOTS of players in PS2 that are barely more than casual gamers. I don't think requiring them to pay will encourage them to stick around and organize.
I like the idea put forth by several in this thread, that a basic outfit can be created without any cost or penalties, but it will be fairly limited in what it can do. A maximum number of members, only a handful of ranks maybe with fixed titles, cannot join an (also proposed by PIG) alliance, no outfit base/headquarters, etc. These things can be purchased by an outfit. Not the outfit leader, but the outfit - like was mentioned, maybe members can donate station cash to an outfit account? I wasn't able to read all the replies in this thread yet, but that's my two cents on this. |

Charge purely for aesthetics when it comes to outfits, not functionality.
Outfits are as much a part of gameplay as guns and vehicles. If you limit functionality on them to only those that pay you are doing the same as make pay only guns. Instead, give outfits a level up system as well, let outfits rank, as they rank through the combined experience they earn they can unlock features, or alternatively there can be pay to speed up unlocks, like the side grades. DO NOT limit functionality to pay only. Only aesthetics bonuses should have any pay only limits. Done and done, next topic. |

EvilPig I like the idea of having a required pay for creation of Outfits (this would eliminate the constant 1 or 2 people outfits that flood the outfit listings). But maybe do like SWTOR did and have Outfits pre-register for free, if they have 5-10 members pre-order. Then after release it is a $10 dollar fee for creation of a new outfit.

World of tank and DCU charges for Clan creation and several other games make prerequisites. I support this What is $15 - 20 dollars for one person and if your that strapped for cash and already have a outfit what's $15-20 between 10-75 people.Giving SOE income add Patches,Fixes, and content Can't have it all for free.

I don't understand the opposition towards creating outfits. So what if there's a lot of outfits in the game? I don't see how it's directly affecting you. So some makes a bunch of accounts and creates a bunch of outfits? So what? I really don't understand...Can someone enlighten me?

I don't have a problem with station cash to make an outfit.
For most people making an outfit is a one-time deal, if they even make one at all. I also like the idea of outfits only being creatable by subscribers, but it's basically the same thing as paying a fee to create one. So ya, add it to the list of things that are OK to charge real money for to support our free-to-play game. |

I agree wholeheartedly.
If the game is free to play the only thing you should be paying for are cosmetics. Want to support the company? Pay for a premium subscription. Besides charging a fee to just create an outfit is absurd. |

Making people pay to start an outfit is the one of the worst ideas I've seen yet, sorry. Have outfit names that you want to keep be brought over from PS1 for the dedicated outfits, but there should be absolutely no barriers with the exception of a full squad to start an outfit. To eliminate one man outfits, make the minimum required players to keep it together at least 5.

My biggest problem with the whole F2P scheme is crap like this; I'd rather pay a monthly sub than have them start nickel and dime'ing me for every action I take in game. Sure, it probably wouldn't be that big of an expense, but in reverse it also wouldn't be that good of a revenue source for SOE. The whole idea of, "well we can charge for that, so lets do it!" feels incredibly cheap to me; it's like staying in a cheap motel and having to pay for the towels. I'll pay extra (more than I'd even spend in the store if I bought everything I want) just to not have to worry about all the little micro-transactions. Give me one price that I can anticipate each month, and not have to worry about all the little $9.99 purchases.
Of course, Higby already said they are going to have a membership system (design forthcoming); so as long as that covers all the little crap expenses like this, do whatever you want...
