Will Galaxies still be in the game (even if not, something equivalent will anyways) and more importantly, have they said whether Gal drops will still be doable?

In the G4TV interview they said something like "how would it be Planetside without Gal Drops?"

I have, but this question was also sort of about whether it will be possible to just drop out of a personnel carrying airplane with no parachute from a couple of hundred meters or something

No chutes, full fall damage! Man-drops all around. If you can't survive a two hundred foot drop we don't need ya.

I'll be all comfy in my max unit, like a Meteor from Hell

I prefer to consider "Gal Drops" as in watching a gal full of people blow up and crash personally.

That would be cool if maxes fell without the assist and did a cool crash land with a shock wave to enemies. Like catch themselves with one of their hands like in Crysis 2 and stand back up.

Galaxy drops will be in and they will also be available as mobile spawn points (probably squad only or something). They made no mention of bailing out of solo aircraft.

Fairly interesting. Some outfits might always have a Galaxy just flying about ready to drop people that spawn in it

If they plan on stepping up the roll of the flying elephant, and giving it AMS functionality, they better beef up it's defenses. Nothing in PS1 was easier pray than an unescorted gal on root to a base. The gun positions were pretty much useless, and despite the heavy amounts of armor, they were still sitting ducks. Hopefully the increased cooperation they're aiming for in PS2 will help with this.

if they add spawning to it, to keep it balanced they should keep the armor the same or even lower it.

Re: Have they said anything about Gal drops?

The 'spawn in Galaxies thing' is a leadership ability that has to be unlocked which means only fairly dedicated leader characters will be able to have their squad members spawn in their Galaxy / in Gal with them ( not sure which ) and i'm pretty sure it goes on a cooldown timer too, so it's not going to be the main place squad members wil be constantly spawning.

At least thats how i've interpreted the info given so far
