The beta start date will be announced next week, but they won't be telling us how many players will get in at that time, or how long it will take to get everyone with vet status or an E3 or PCGamer beta key into beta.

Sounds accurate. Probably a couple thousand people for the first beta period, weekend, or however long they keep the servers up. Double the population next period, and then finally 24/7 Beta server.

Ok this is what I am going with. "Planetside one is free to all veterans. Not everyone will be happy with the level of detail due to the fact that 1. New players can not play for free and 2. No beta date.

That doesn't make sense since the announcement was given in response to "When will people be able to start playing PS2?"

Uh, he just said we'd be happy with the topic, but not with the details.

It could go like

"Beta will start June 30th"

In which case we wouldn't be happy with the lack of details as to how many will get in, how fast it ramps up, how long it should go, etc.
