Guess marketing and a big name goes a long way. Most of the stuff I listen to doesn't require huge sub bass anyway, and I can always goose the 60hz slider if I need a bit more thump.
Beats and Bose are way more marketing than audio quality, i feel sorry for people who buy that stuff =(

I have to say, I laugh a bit when I see the cost of that crap when I'm in a store.

pppfffff headphones. It's all about 2.0 speakers, man.

I've had the same pair of Altec Lansings for 15 years and they're still the BOMB DIGGITY. Sound better than any piece of crap headphones you could find.

Also headphones are annoyingly uncomfortable and destroy your ears

it could be that, you know how most games these days like to start snipers with more auto weapons before they give you the real sniper rifle, the infils starting version could be a modified gauss, that has like a 10 round semi auto mag, but only does like 30hp or so per shot.

What about Denon? I'm by no means an audiophile, and if I had money to spare I would shove it all into tuning the bajeezus my car, but I've got a $90-ish pair of in-ear Denon headphones and like to think that I bought something worthwhile.

Also, is Harman (AKG) a good brand? I'm asking because they make factory hi-fi upgrades for BMW. :P

Yes, Denon does make some very nice headphones.. I can't really comment on their earbuds/IEMs, but many people swear by their higher-end circumaurals. In any case they'll most likely be leaps and bounds above most of the overpriced crap Beats/Bose dishes out.

If you'd like an educated opinion of the specific model you have I strongly suggest heading over to www.headfi.org and do some searches on their forums. Denon's a big brand so I'm sure you'll find some good info there.

In fact, this thread might be a good place to start since there are a few models of Denon IEMs reviewed in there.

Amps? Really?

My god, why? The Signal from ya PC is what you get, a AMP isnt magically improving it. Its just changing some Frequencys around a bit, but i can do that with software, better, and still have more audio quality as my wires are shorter = less potential outside crap coming in.

Depends what kinda amp it is, I guess. Some (but I think they are usually referred to as pre-amps or audio interfaces) are actually just like.. external soundcards, so it wouldnt technically be "what you get from PC", cos having a better soundcard do the processing instead of the onboard crap can make a huge difference.
