Aw. I liked jump jets. Other empires were balanced by having faster fire rates (TR) or more durability for crashes (NC). Can't have 'em conflicting with LA this time around, though. I like the idea of omnidirectional evasive dashes. Maybe they could also have a higher-than-normal jump height (so as not to necessarily infringe upon light assault).

I think that since this is such a huge debate, and we all know VS max's strength will forever be complained about. Just give them the 50% maneuverability of a regular Rexo character. Crouch, Run, Jumping, Turning faster than other maxes. Does it sound OP? Well its not, they get no special abilities that will make them fire faster or protect them. Would it make them weaker than normal MAX's? Yes and No, Yes; only if its a 2v1 you will most likely be out powered as in any 2v1. No; because you would be able to have the chance to deal more damage over time (not determined by gun speed) depending on how skillful the player is with their movements.

My thought process:
Pro's-
>Mobility
>Increased Escape chances
>Better team work with regular soldiers

Con's-
>No unique abilities for offense or defense
>Possibly have a little less armor than normal MAX units (due to being able to move away faster to a fellow engineer)
>Not as well suited for pushing front lines

I am still going through it in my head though, I just typed as I thought it out. ;D

Something totally different. In the first PS the Max didn't really have hands. The new ones will so maybe they will have some BA melee combat energy weapon. Duo's Deathscythe anyone? It would be totally unique.

This will never happen but I've always played melee characters in games.

You are right. Also lets not have any other vehicles than tanks or weapons other than HA.

Just because there is a counter or a shared ability is not a reason to say no.

I hope max's have some kind of melee in PS2, not quite something to instakill but does a ton of damage with a good amount of cooldown. The vanu one should just be able to boost to the target a short distance to use it.

The reasons for other vehicles and weapons is because they suit different roles.
Giving max's jumpjets gives them the same role with no disadvantages.

Seriously. Give it like a 2 min cooldown and it should only be used as a finish or something. It's better than the gimmicky stuff MAX's had in PS1 and way less situational. And its a big fuck you, dont for get that.

Jets is pretty much the only really feasible option for the VS MAX.
Dodging while awesome cool would possibly break all kinds of physics stuff and you'll run a higher risk of falling through the world or something.

All kinds of unique possibilities open up in offense and defense both supporting and against VS MAX if they have jets.

Sure MAX are tougher than LA, but they're still limited by the turning radius of all MAX's AND They're jets wouldn't be as powerful as LA. If ANY LA is standing in front of ANY MAX that LA deserved to get blown away regardless of where they are.

If the LA is smart enough he'll know to get around the sides or back of a MAX unit if he absolutely has to get rid of it.

Other than the Auto Run feature that a MAX has all movement speeds of MAX are slower then any other infantry that's not going to change, so why must VS MAX w/ jets still be able to always trump TR/NC LA?

If anything you'll end up seeing VS LA supporting VS MAX w/ jets to take roofs more than any VS MAX only pushes. VS MAX could then be using one arm as AI and the other arm as AV or AA. This would further reduce the effectiveness of the VS MAX to pure LA attacks showing that VS LA support is still very much a game feature as well as supporting VS characteristic flexibility in the battlefield.

And still VS MAX do not necessarily need to have powerful jets, just enough to give them the ability to get up on those roofs eventually given planning and support. LA will still be able to out maneuver them.

Also think about if they're putting whiteout grenades and C4 charges into the game you'd think that LA have even more chances to use that enhanced mobility to combat VS MAX w/ jets.

All kinds of unique possibilities open up in offense and defense both supporting and against VS MAX if they have jets.

I don't think we know what forgelight is capable of in the physics department

The bolded part is the problem. Why should one empire alone have those "All kinds of unique possibilities" instead of what the other empire MAX's have?
