Tribes Ascend

Hi-Rez Studios announced last year that it's doing something massive with the Tribes IP. It just revealed a much smaller-scale project as well. Tribes: Ascend is an Unreal Engine 3-based, multiplayer-only, downloadable Tribes game heading to XBLA and PC in 2011.

Some screen grabs from the video, Shazbot scratched in armor, a generator that looks a lot like a Tribes 2 gen getting hit by a disc and some of the fast images at the end.

wow whats going on with Soe still no updates or trailer or new titles on planetside they really need to get their act together or this game that's being developed and probably release in the summer will blow them out of the waters

The two games aren't really in the same competing market.. that game will not be an MMO.

Also please do not post the exact same message in multiple threads over and over.

technically they are making it a 3 fraction free realm fast pace pvp with vechile used only for support not high DPS

Tribes Ascent will not be an MMO, Tribes: Universe on the other hand (the other tribes game they're making) WILL be an MMO.

Hmm, I wonder if it will be like the original. Never got a chance to play the original series, but everyone talks about it like it is a God amongst games.

Tribes holds a special place in my heart, many good years of gaming and competition with friends. I am going to just let that memory stay and avoid this game. As far as I am concerned Tribes is THE original skill based FPS, adding Microtransactions to it is just wrong.
