Is it just me... or is PS2 more "cartoonish" than the original? Particularly the infantry classes Have you seen the way infantry runs?
The original felt more gritty, then again, it could have just been the lack of modern graphics. I have no qualms with the environment at all, looks simply stunning. And I'd also like to say that this is ALPHA people! Things like MAXs in vehicles, no fall damage, and spawn points are DEFINITELY going to change. The version we're watching is strictly for E3 demonstration ONLY. However, that's why I also believe my original concern is valid - because animations and character art is something that's already solidified and may not change much or at all. |

Some of the animations feel like they could use a little work, but overall I feel like the game has a much more gritty real world look than the first game. I think it's the lighting that does it most for me, although it's not the only factor.
It's also nice that it still has all of the color still. Not brown and bloom out the ass. |

We are also seeing all compressed videos. Twitch compresses, Youtube compresses. So fine details that make a face look like a face and not some drawn blob are lost. Same goes for body.
And of course Alpha is Alpha. I like the way it looks now. Tweak some animations, which are clearly just not polished, and its all good. |

The gameplay was a little hard to judge by since I'm not in control and can't track individuals well on demand.
However, the first shots in the E3 trailer show running animations that look a little goofy to me. It's hard to put my finger on what it is, but I think I may have pinned it down -- their torsos are too stable, so it looks like they run in kind of a gliding squat. |

I don't know.
I remembered looking at ME3 many months before release and being appalled by its crappy walking and running animation, and even until the demo came out people were still talking how it's going to be fixed. Improvements like that rarely happen.. |
