It can be argued that everyone tries to act a bit hipster, without even knowing what it means. You always want to say that you liked something before someone else, just to be first. |

Saying you liked something before it was popular isn't a hipster thing. People have been proud of liking bands before they were "mainstream" since long before hipsters were a thing. Really, I'd say hipster is mostly about ascribing to the latest dumb fashion trend amongst college-age kids. It's just the next phase of the constantly evolving fashion habits of weak, trendy people who have yet to become adults.
