Should run alright, but what speed is the 256? Your RAM will only run at the speed of the slowest stick. You might want to think about going all out and getting 2 512 sticks so they dual channel. That would lead to a great performance boost over 768.

Are you even sure it's DDR? You should make sure of that too.

To explain the whole slow RAM thing, if you have PC2700 and put in PC3200, the PC3200 will slow itself down to the PC2700's speed. This makes it very stupid to put high end RAM in a system, when it's just going to be as bad as the cheap stuff.

Edit: You can check what RAM is in your system at www.crucial.com.

i have a VPR matrix and its says im can use DDR PC2100 and then it said this heres a posted comment:

(We recommend a minimum memory total of at least 512MB. And since your vpr Matrix Series Desktops supports up to 1024MB of memory, you may want to install even more, especially if you work with several programs at a time or use memory-intensive software, such as image-editing software.
(Keep in mind that sometimes BIOS updates and other hardware configurations can alter memory recommendations.)

so what do yall think?
