Spawn Timer

Anyone else get annoyed by this: "The frequency of your deaths has delayed your spawn time by 10 seconds"?

Not much, but in the middle of a huge, awesone fight, I don't want to sit there and wait 35 seconds for this little bar to go down. Also, you can't even chat during this time. Everything just stops.

I guess in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't amount to much, but just thought I would ask the question.

Thanks.

Come on! Someone has to have a thought on this! Or is it that much of a non-issue?

(Oh, man! I can't wait for the responses now!)

It is a player requested anti-zerg feature.

Someday you will be able to chat, they talked about it.

On the bright side if you are CR3 you can draw while waiting.

Ok Ive posted this before guess its time to do so again...

You can chat.

Before you hit the respawn button you can do the following:
/t
/o
/s
that means you can talk to your squad, your outfit or a single person.

After you hit the respawn button (in the map mode) you can still:
/t

need to tell the commander or a buddy about where you died of if they are about to be attacked....

Also because I know people out there always ask... You still get exp for base cap, team kills when you are dead, its just that your chat bubble does not show this exp gain.

This feature adds nicely to the "You spend more time pissing around doing nothing than actually playing" statement that a fair number of people apply to Planetside.

As well-intentioned as the feature may be, it is extremely frustrating to sit there for 35 or more seconds doing absolutely nothing but stare at the map. Being penalized for playing the game is just ridiculous - how are you supposed to defend a tower properly when your spawn time is just shooting to ridiculous amounts?

It shouldn't be completely removed, but a wait of 10 seconds at most is suitable in my opinion.

It used to be EXTREMELY long in beta when they first started playing with it

I always thought the respawn timer was kinda generous, i mean it is your penalty for dying... you deserve it if you dont like it dont die.

Thrik, I totally agree.

10 seconds, or even 15 seconds, if you die about 20 times on 10 minutes. But in those huge hallway tower battles, you can't realistically say that you only die every 5-10 minutes! Unless, you're say Intruder!

It's the nature of the battles, you die VERY often, and what about those times when you dir right in the spawn tubes when you get spawn camped and then it's another 35 second respawn time! Over 1 minute of respawning for 2 seconds of gameplay?! Just doesn't make sense to me.

I believe that you should have a "penalty" for dying, but I think 35 seconds is a little much. At least give all the chat abilities. Give me something to do while I'm sitting there DYING to get back into that tower and drop some more thumper plasma grenades on your punk ass!

Sorry for the rambling post!

The frequency of your deaths has delayed your respawn by 10 seconds.
The frequency of your deaths has delayed your respawn by 20 seconds.
The frequency of your deaths has delayed your respawn by 35 seconds.
The frequency of your deaths has delayed your respawn by 50 seconds.

Yeah, those were the days, alright.

I bet your the same guy who releases before your corpse hits the ground.

/me flys off into a rage about how stupid people nullify his advanced medic cert, then curls up into a fetal position in the corner and cries.

There were so few advanced medics in beta that it wasn't worth waiting. Now everyone in my damn outfit has the cert so we get in an infinite loop of reviving each other instead of actually shooting stuff.

True, I probably respawn before I should, but in a major battle, people are busy fighting and by the time I tell them where I am and they get to me (before dying themselves), it's better to just respawn.

I know, I know...I should shut up if I'm not going to wait!!
