If it's relatively easy to make most bullets hit at a certain distance, then the VS guns should do almost full damage. If it's hard to hit with more than half of your bullets at a certain range, VS guns should do about half damage.
This is going to require serious balancing and playtesting though. If they get it right, I think it will give a great and unique feel to the VS. If they get it wrong, VS are either gimped or overpowered, and if we are overpowered, we will soon be nerfed to hell. Pulsar 2.0?

Yeah this is going to be extremely tricky to balance. When I first read they were sticking us with damage degradation again I was like,
"F*CK!!! NOT AGAIN!!!" I've been griping about DD on the official forums for
years and was hoping we wouldn't see it
at all in PS2...

But admittedly..... It does make sense that an energy particle-based weapon wouldn't have nearly as much weapon kick or (assuming a fast muzzle velocity) as much drop over distance as a conventional firearm. And you gotta balance that somehow.... *sigh* So adding degradation I guess would work since I could see the shots dissipating when fired within an atmosphere.
You better believe tho that one of the first things I'm going to do in Beta (when I'm not involved in "official" tests that is) is to go to VR and see just how much degradation they stuck us with and how it affects STK's and TTK's.
But I gotta say I'm looking forward to infinite beamer-sniping out in the field!

They way worded it tho I wonder if any other VS firearms are going to have these "self-charging cells." Alternately, I wonder if we're going to have unified green ammo again, and hopefully the Lancer will get to use them too this time...?
