Every time I get a MAX as NC it always ends up as AA duty because of the shotgun. That thing is a BEAST, but only if you're able to time it right and get most of the shot to land on target. If you're more than 20m out the spread is just shit and I have to use mag after mag to kill anything. The mortar is fine as is but that shotgun just kills me. Are we going to have a side choice in MAX weapons after release? Hell, even just having slugs would make the shotgun much better in my opinion. |

I doubt the MAX's are done as they still don't have their certs, and the AV weapons are terrible at their job. That said I dunno if the NC MAX will get a longer range weapon. Honestly the TR an VS MAX's are not that much better. Hitting anyone with the Cycler even at medium range is difficult especially if they move around. I think it's clear they seem to want AI MAX to be CQC specialist.

Before the est server locked down for the night I wasn't doing all that bad as a med range NC MAX. Took 3 outposts and a Tech plant without a single death all while getting a share of kills. It helped a LOT that the fight was in a ravine where the VS couldn't flank but I still couldn't hit a thing. So just kept shooting at what cover the VS was using. It worked very well at making them stay behind anything they could so my mates can work up for a finisher. Once we pushed into the Tech plant was when that shotgun shown what it was made for.
I only wish that the spread was tightened up a bit. I could be dead center on a target and a few pellets would still fly off to the side from the end of a hallway. Iv been killed my many TR and VS MAXes at ranges that I wouldn't even try with a NC MAX. I say a beefed up shotgun the NC MAX has should leave nothing but a splat with each shot. Lower the fire rate (maybe to 2 shots a tick max), cut the spread by 25%-40%, and (maybe) take it to 6 shot a mag then it would fit the NC "Hit good and hard" gun style perfect. As for giving the TR and VS MAXes some love. They might not need some to be honest. The TR MAX is a beast with that chaingun and I run from them as soon as I see one if I don't have backup. It's almost the same for the VS MAX because I know that they will have a weapon that can easily kill me at med range (unless it's setup for duel bursters). For a class that costs 100 resource and has a 5 min timer I tend to be forced to run from a lot of fights unless the guy is already point blank in my face. All because I end up having to reload due to most of the shot missing, even if my aim is dead center. |

Maxes seem really weak to me.
I haven't certed anything into them, but the default armor seems equivalent to two heavies and you don't even need anti-tank or AP to take one down, just shoot it with your carbine and down they go. The default guns, at least on the NC one that I've tried, are nothing special either. The scattergun is nice, but it holds like five shots before reloading making maxes useless in most situations where they might be needed, such as breaching a heavily defended infantry zerg. You're dead before you can even reload once. I'd rather have slightly weaker guns, but more ammo capacity because constant reloading hurts the nc max in situations where they would be needed the most. I understand that some weapons are more symbolic for some factions, but why couldn't there be slightly different versions of the same weapons for all factions instead of only the iconic ones? MAXes suffer the most in this aspect... why not give the VS MAX a laser scatter gun with reduced damage per shot and increased range for example, or the NC MAX a slow firing but stronger hitting machine gun (not necessarily a rotating one like a heavy cycler)? Each faction's most representative weapon would still be the top choice in that weapon type (NC shotgun would be the hardest hitting of the hard hitting weapons, TR cycler would be the fastest of the fast weapons, etc), but playstyle-wise all factions would get more options. Yeah i think its max's in general if you ever see a good VS max driver you will notice they crouch with the AI weapon that's because it lowers the COF which is NUTS! it fires slow and goes every were so besides CQB its useless (the AV weapon is a different matter entirely) Yes the AV shot fires straight but its got 4 in the mag and it is slllooowww so you can literally side step them.

Id love to see the NC get slugs, but can live with a smaller spread for all MAX main guns. Maybe then I can take a MAX outside without it being for AA duty. |
