The fundamental mistake with this is that SOE are denying paying members access to content.
It's as simple as that. A referral system is a great idea, I think it'll be good for the game as a whole. But the way they've done it with regards to exclusive items is not in any way going to make this program a success it's only going to breed resentment within the community. Which is exactly what it's done already. The rage on the SOE forums is up to 18 pages already and growing. |

Not at all. All players have access to certs. They get them automatically for logging in and they get them from playing the game. No player is prevented from getting certs simply by playing the game.
However, they are unable to access the referral items without taking part in something outside of the game. You are unable to get the items from within the game either by certs or SC. That's the issue. By all means, give players who gather that number or referrals those items. But also make them available to non-referring players as well via the Depot as with other items. No-one would have an issue if SOE did that. |

I'm not, mhm. Doh! Don't know why I missed that. I retract my previous line of inquiry.

i recruited around 15 of my friends for ps2. But almost all of them stoped playing months ago because the game lacks content, performance, polishing, strategic and tactical gameplay.......and so on.
The game was rushed out too early. Now the people are gone and they want come back. Thatd exactly the way to ruin a franchise. Congratulations SOE! |

I would have an issue if SOE did that. They are a reward for getting more folks into the game, and they should be only that, nothing else. |

The good:
This could help to get more people in. The Bad: For everyone who has been playing this game for a while and gotten people to try it out, it is quite a downer to not have those past recruitments count for anything at all. ( 50+ members of the gaming community i come from did try the game and joined the Outfit i opened for us. I think it is fair to say that i convinced a good part of them to try the game. Almost all of them have stopped playing month ago due to various issues. While i can live without shiny rewards, it is disappointing to know you would have been eligible to get them, if you would have started to draw people in now instead of right after launch. And my pool of potential recruits is dry / got burned by Planetside 2 already. ) The ugly: I understand you can not count registrations alone in a Free To Play game where nothing stops people from making a million alts. But why 10$ spent as the treshold? Couldnt it just be buy station cash + buy something ingame? Money is money, if they spend something that should do it imho. Or combine a low sum of cash spent with a certain playtime. 10$ is leaving a somewhat bad taste. Last edited by Wargrim; 2013-07-21 at 03:03 PM. |

The only downside I see personally in this program is the one time use links. The referral link itself is nearly useless for something like Twitter or Facebook since you won't know when it's redeemed. They need true social media links that can be used a variety of times.
