you probably shouldnt be discussing this topic as you clearely have no clue. you think ps1 had anything in common or similiar to quake?
there are some musicians that get ginourmous followings for music thats not very good, deep, or difficult to make, just as modern games appeal to unskilled crowd because they can actually get quite a few kills and such while being well below average skill.
if you dont have a solid understanding of the old games you cant come in here and expect to be able to write something off just because something that is 10+y younger is having more players.
q3, 13y old, was just played in a tournament in the recent dreamhack. most modern shooters thats released is considered to have so little depth that theyre barely even played in competitions in their prime
