One of their tweets awhile ago. The cutoff date for accepting PS1 vets was BEFORE they announced that the PS1 vets would get priority access, to stop people from doing exactly what you're doing.

Alternatively, you could think of it as SOE discouraging you from spending money on a game they may very well stop supporting once PS2 is officially released.

Though realistically it's probably just to stop thousands of people from purchasing PS1 and clogging the veteran line up for beta. There isn't too many of us, I know it seems otherwise, but you have to remember we're only pop locking 2-3 continents at a time right now during prime time. I remember when that was common even during the twilight hours across several servers, not just one.

I'm sure there is quite a few Veterans who didn't feel like coming back to enjoy the free PS1 time, but who are still signed up for Beta.
