Frames per Second

Noticing in some of the pictures that the frame rates are alittle low.

http://www.planetside-universe.com/m....php?img_id=92 (Look bottom center)

This is just with a drop pod and ground, what will it be like with a 50 person battle? Anyone whos played <cough> HAMMA! <cough> care to ease my fears.

That's pretty old. They have most likely been tweaking the game code to put out better performance. I wouldn't expect to get 150fps but probably better than 50.

It might have lowered to 50 because of ther flames on the jets of the drop pod.

Anything over 20 would be great for me. You cant even see the difference between 30ish-100000ish

wait... hold on... let me get the facts straight... You guys are whining over 50fps? Like Artell said, 20 would be fine for me. I don't know how fast my new comp will go, but if it runs, its good enough for me. (unless it runs RRRRREEEEAAALLY slow.)

The human eye generally can't distinguinsh above 30FPS, although depending on lighting condition it can be up to 60FPS.

You definitely want 30+FPS though.

From some of the posts devs have made, they're not running with top of the line systems. If you have a Ti4600+ I'm sure you'll be much better than this. I seem to recall one of the guys on the official forums saying he regularly uses a machine with a GeForce3 MX and gets good performance. So, don't stress

As long as people aren't stuttering across my screen as I'm trying to shoot them, I could care less how many fps there are. But if it becomes like dark age of camelot where it becomes a slide show when there's a large battle taking place, that would be very bad.

For TV's 30 frames is all you need. Because tV's have a natural motion blur. For a computer to not notice any framerate dips you need 60 min. You want as many as possible so when a lot of action goes on screen the frame rate dosnt dip under 60. When im playing quake i notice when my fps dip into the 80s. Its very subtle but there.

I have no problem with fps as long as it doesn't drop below 40, then I start noticing video lag..

You do not notice a dip into the 80s. The human eye DOES NOT distinguish above 60, period. It has been tested. It is all in your head because you can see your FPS meter.

Well maybe everyone elses eyes cannot distinguish above 60 fps. My eyes are special, I can tell the difference between 60fps and 100fps fairly easily.

Just joking. 60 would be terrible, because once a lot starts going on in your screen it would drop way down. I am hoping to get 100-80 when there isn't much movement or rendering on my screen and 60 in a 100+ man battle.
