can you reserve and lock a platoon name?
(more of asking because of 1 post limit but curious)

There is a forum for new player questions but either way.

I don't believe you can name a platoon, and as far as a squad goes (4 squads make up a platoon) I am quite sure there is no way currently to lock a name.
