Blinking zones on the map

What the hell does it mean when an area blinks? It doesn't correspond with the listed hotspots as I just checked.

Just another mysterious feature?

I think it means the hex is about to flip. I have no confirmation of that - just happened to be at a blinking outpost yesterday and the enemy was taking it.

Yeah, I think it usually means the base is being contested.

I really have no idea, but i always thought those were probably areas with high activity. If i'm not mistaken all hotspots also blinked... there were only 5 hotspots in each map, so it was a way to show other interesting places to go without having to mouse over them. All speculation on my part though.

If you mouse over the blinking regions, sometimes the display shows that there's only one faction present.

Usualy means it's being taken over. Could mean there's a certain amount of hostile forces present too.

It's not completely clear to me either what the exact blinking conditions are though, since sometimes a base keeps blinking even if there are no enemies around, no fighting, no base cap in process and it's behind your own lines...

One of the biggest issues atm is that map data is seriously far behind in updating. Sucks when you direct forces to a contested area with a hotspot, and there is basically nothing going on. It's why we fly recon.

Speaking of hot spots.

One hot spot per zone isn't really... indicative of where the actual fight is, especially on Esamir.
