Titles

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I was wondering if anyone knows if there will be visible titles in the game?

Like you could get one for having X amount of kills without dying, or leading Y amount base captures in a row or something.

Or what about lastnames?(i.e. surnames in EQ).

You get points based on experience (kills/exploration) and for commanding. I don't think there's anything specific to killing without dying or anything. Not sure though.

For names I hope it's more like a FPS would be... no last names and stuff.

Titles are cool because then you could be running around or whatever and see some guy named 'Death Master Tommy' or something, and you'd know he has killed 1,000 people... maybe its just me

i'd rather the names above people work just like normal fps games.

but i'd also like somewhere (either ingame or a webpage) where we can enter a name and see their stats.

Yeah i'm praying/hoping that PS has a very good stat system including a webpage with every player playing and info like those currently logged on, number of deaths, number of kills and any other cool/useful info.

i hope they don't have stats or titles or anything like that. I don't want anything in this game to make a guy go "i could help this guy out, but it might hurt my stats." (like if a squad is losinga fight and a friendly pilot spots them in his skeeter.)

Stats is a cool idea. You will always be able to tell that I am the best in the game

1st place: Tolvy - 5237

3rd place: 5000 tied with 0 kills

I know for a fact they are going to track a ton of various stats

I also hope they provide a ton of live data on the web, and also via XML.. this is somthing that DAOC has done very well.. and I think it would be a great addition.

Stats are fine, just so long as they don't affect your character in anyway what so ever. "Death Master Tommy" would be the stupidest thing in the world, even if it was a different title. That would turn the game into a carebear campfest. Look at UO, all people ever did was sit in their castle and macro provoke on a Healer to get "Dread Lord" so people would ph34r their l33t macro script. Bottom line, no. Acually all those titles ever did was let us pks know who had no skill but lots o' house keys. :P
